The social media buzz around the Cockroach Janata Party took a dramatic turn after X, formerly known as Twitter, withheld the party’s official account in India just days after it went viral online.
The account, operated under the username “CJP_2029”, is now displaying a message that reads: “Account Withheld. @CJP_2029 has been withheld in IN in response to a legal demand.”
The sudden restriction came shortly after the satirical political outfit gained massive traction across platforms and reportedly overtook the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Instagram following count, sparking intense debate online.

Founder Abhijeet Dipke reacted to the development by sharing a screenshot of the withheld notice on social media. In his post, he wrote, “As expected Cockroach Janta Party’s account has been withheld in India.”
The Cockroach Janata Party, popularly called CJP, has attracted attention for its humorous and satirical take on Indian politics, unemployment, and internet culture. Within a short period, the outfit built a strong online presence, especially among younger audiences who flooded social media with memes, reaction videos, and parody campaign posts.
The withholding of the account has now triggered fresh conversations around satire, free speech, and digital censorship in India. Several users questioned the timing of the move, pointing out that the account restriction came at a moment when the party was rapidly gaining visibility online.
Despite the restriction on X, discussions surrounding the Cockroach Janata Party continue to trend across Instagram and other social media platforms, keeping the satirical outfit firmly in the spotlight.
