A five-day intensive Induction Training Programme for newly appointed Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) in History successfully concluded today at the Institute on Management of Agricultural Extension (IMAGE), Siripur.
Organized by the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education under the Department of School and Mass Education, Government of Odisha, the training was designed to equip fresh educators with essential professional competencies, administrative awareness, and modern teaching methodologies required for higher secondary education.
The inaugural phase of the induction program, which ran from September 7 to September 11, saw the participation of 120 newly recruited History PGTs from across the state.
Distinguished officials from the department attending the ceremony included Niyati Pattnaik, Director, Directorate of Higher Secondary Education Binita Senapati, Additional Director Sasmita Mali, Joint Director C.H. Bijayalakshmi.
During the interactive session, key officials highlighted the critical role teachers play in mentoring youth and emphasized building strong leadership within the classroom environment.
The five-day modules provided holistic coverage of modern academic frameworks and state governance tools. Key training subjects included:
• Academic Frameworks: National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 implementation, examination and assessment planning, and career guidance strategies.
• Digital & Modern Tools: Integration of ICT-enabled teaching-learning techniques alongside state educational platforms like SAMS and the Shikshajyoti portal.
• Administrative & Social Awareness: Odisha Education Rules, scholarship administration, gender-responsive education, and safety compliance under the POSH Act.
The department also announced that the second phase of the PGT Induction Training Programme will take place from September 21 to September 25, 2026, extending the capacity-building effort to another incoming batch of PGTs.
