Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport issued an advisory on Thursday, urging passengers arriving from or transiting through Ebola‑affected countries to report immediately to airport health officials if they feel unwell.

The alert followed a high‑level review meeting chaired by the Union Health Secretary to assess preparedness against Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

The advisory identified the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan as high‑risk nations. It listed symptoms such as fever, weakness, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, unexplained bleeding, and sore throat. Travellers who had direct contact with blood or body fluids of suspected or confirmed Ebola patients were asked to report to the health desk before immigration clearance.

Officials stated that any traveller developing these symptoms within 21 days of arrival must seek medical care and inform healthcare authorities about their travel history. The airport urged passengers to cooperate with screening and public‑health measures under the International Health Regulations (IHR).

Ebola Virus Disease, endemic to Congo’s tropical forests, spreads through direct contact with bodily fluids of infected individuals or contaminated materials. The World Health Organisation confirmed 51 cases in the DRC but noted that the actual scale of the outbreak may be larger.

The advisory aims to strengthen surveillance and prevent potential importation of the virus into India.
