Women’s T20I: Jemimah Rodrigues Stars In India’s Win Over Sri Lanka

Indian Women beat Sri Lanka Women by 34 runs in the first T20I to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match rubber. Batting first, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian side posted a total of 138/6 on the board.

Jemimah Rodrigues top-scored for the Indian side with a 27-ball 36*. Apart from Rodrigues, opener Shafali Verma scored a run-a-ball 31 at the top of the order. For Sri Lanka, Inoka Ranaweera scalped 3 wickets in her 4-over spell.

In reply, the Sri Lankan side lost wickets at regular intervals, and could only manage a total of 104/5 in their 20 overs. Kavisha Dilhari top-scored for Sri Lanka with a 49-ball 47*.

For India, Radha Yadav was the pick of the bowlers. In her 4 overs, the left-arm spinner picked up 2 wickets and gave away only 22 runs in her spell. The second T20I will be played on 25th June 2022.
