Cuttack: In a shocking incident, a half-burnt body of a woman was recovered from a house at Matha Sahi area near Station Bazar in Cuttack city.
The deceased has been identified as Rina Pradhan of Tentuliapada in Ganjam district.
According to available information, Rina tied a nuptial knot with Dolia Pradhan in 2019. They were currently living in a rented house at Matasahi.
Reportedly, the matter came to the fore after the neighbours spotted smoke billowing from the house and called Rina. But, she did not respond. The neighbours entered the house and found Rina’s half-burnt body.
On receiving information, firefighters reached the spot and doused the flames. Later, Malgodown police along with the scientific reached the spot and launched a probe in this regard.
Meanwhile, the brother of the deceased woman alleged it to be a planned murder. However, the circumstances under which the incident took place are yet to be ascertained.
A case has been registered about the same and Dolia has been detained for further interrogation, sources said.
