Sambalpur police arrested two persons for attempting to abduct a young woman near Sikidi village under Burla police station.
On July 13, the victim was returning home after office work when accused Hemant Meher (32) and his associate Dharani Kathia (19) allegedly blocked her path with a car, forcibly snatched her scooty, and tried to push her inside the vehicle. The woman managed to escape from their clutches.
Following her complaint, police arrested both accused from Rusuda village under Bheden police station in Bargarh district. The seized items include the snatched scooty (OD 15 AB 0300) and the car used in the crime (OD 15 E 6848). Police sources confirmed that Hemant Meher already has prior cases registered against him at Ainthapali police station.
