WHO experts to land in Wuhan to probe coronavirus origins

New Delhi: A ten member team of WHO experts will arrive from Singapore in Wuhan, the epicenter of Chinese city coronavirus, that emerged in December 2019.

Media reports said the team will have to complete two weeks of quarantine due to strict border restrictions.

Worthwhile to mention here that the deadly virus was first reported in a wet market in Wuhan where live animals, birds and reptiles are sold and spread to humans.

The WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed disappointment over China for not finalising the necessary permissions for the arrival of the team.

Meanwhile, several places in Hebei province close to Beijing reported fresh COVID-19 outbreak. The investigation was set to start last week but China denied entry to the team at the last minute.

Beijing has rejected theories and reports of Wuhan being the source of the outbreak and has blamed several countries for the deadly virus including the US, Italy, France and even India.

The novel coronavirus has killed nearly two million people.
