Virgil Abloh: Louis Vuitton Designer, Off-White Founder Passes Away Of Cancer
New York: Virgil Abloh, the Louis Vuitton artistic director and founder of the Off-White fashion label, passed away from cancer aged 41.

Revealing the news, the French fashion house’s parent company LVMH described Abloh as a “genius” and a “visionary”.

Abloh, the first black American creative director of a top French fashion house, brought streetwear such as hoodies and sneakers to the catwalk.
Abloh was chosen to be artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection in 2018. His parents had immigrated to the United States from Ghana.
The US designer came to prominence as Kanye West’s creative director but later made history as the first African-American to lead Louis Vuitton.
Abloh is survived by his wife, Shannon, and their two children.
