On the basis of reliable inputs, the forest wing of Odisha Vigilance conducted a surprise raid in the Rayagada Town area and detected a Wildlife Case and seized two Leopard skins.
The accused was arrested on the spot for violation of Sec. 9 and punishable u/s 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act,1972.
The state vigilance team and the Rayagada Forest Department busted a tiger skin deal and arrested a person in a lodge in Rayagada.
On receiving information from reliable sources, an 8-member team led by Cuttack Forest Department Vigilance Officer Rajni Kumar Mohanty and a 6-member team from the Rayagada Forest Department jointly raided the Satyam Sundaram Lodge in Rayagada and busted the illicit wildlife contraband deal.
A person named Premanagar Reddy Kaishalya, near Jemadi Pentha in Rayagada block, who is involved in this, has been detained and undergoing interrogation.
The investigation team suspects a large racket behind this incident. Further details regarding the parties involved, the origin of the leopard skin, and the intended smuggling route will become clear after the investigation, stated ACF Ashok Kumar Pradhan.
