The Odisha Vigilance has arrested Satyaprakash Narayan Bhattaray, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Badamba Panchayat Samiti in Cuttack district, for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of over 128% of his known sources of income.
Bhattaray, who failed to satisfactorily explain the source of his wealth, was arrested today following a vigilance probe. The anti-corruption agency registered Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.14 dated 31.03.2026 under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 against him.
Searches were conducted on March 7, 2026, at the properties linked to Bhattaray on the strength of search warrants issued by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.
The raids revealed significant assets, including a double-storeyed building at Patia in Bhubaneswar, five high-value plots located in Bhubaneswar, Dhenkanal, and Choudwar (Cuttack), 133 grams of gold, bank deposits worth Rs. 41.56 lakhs, household assets valued at around Rs. 8 lakhs, and a Hyundai Creta car, among others.
Following his arrest, Bhattaray will be forwarded to the court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack. Further investigation into the case is underway.
