State-owned Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have reduced the prices of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by more than ₹200 across major Indian cities, offering significant relief to restaurants, hotels, caterers, and other commercial establishments. The revised prices came into effect on August 1, while domestic LPG cylinder prices for households remain unchanged.

According to the latest revision, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by ₹202 in Delhi and ₹209 in Kolkata. Following the cut, commercial LPG cylinders in Kolkata will now cost ₹2,872.50. The price reduction is applicable only to commercial consumers and does not affect the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders used in homes.

The latest reduction follows a series of pricing revisions in recent months. On July 1, OMCs had also lowered commercial LPG cylinder prices by up to ₹183.50 across key cities. The earlier reductions came after commercial LPG prices had witnessed multiple hikes due to rising global energy costs and supply concerns triggered by geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

Industry experts believe the latest price cut will help ease operating costs for businesses that rely heavily on LPG for daily operations. Restaurants, hotels, food outlets, and catering services are expected to benefit the most, as lower fuel costs could improve business margins.

The reduction comes as global energy markets continue to stabilise after months of volatility caused by international conflicts. Earlier, the government had prioritised domestic household LPG supplies by restricting commercial and industrial allocations under the Essential Commodities Act. With fuel availability improving, authorities later restored 50 per cent of supplies to commercial and industrial users whose allocations had previously been curtailed.

The government has also directed oil marketing companies to maintain updated records of commercial and industrial LPG consumers to support efficient supply planning and distribution. While commercial users receive immediate relief from the latest revision, household consumers will continue to pay the existing rates as there has been no change in domestic LPG cylinder prices.
