Residents discovered an unidentified body floating in the Kuakhai River near Barimunda village on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Friday morning, prompting police investigation.

Locals spotted the body in the river and immediately informed Mancheswar police. A police team reached the site, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination at a nearby hospital.

Preliminary findings suggest the deceased may have drowned while bathing in the river. The body had only a towel wrapped around it, and investigators believe it remained in the water for two to three days before surfacing.

Authorities have launched an investigation to establish the identity of the deceased and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further details are awaited as the inquiry continues.
