A tragic road accident claimed one life and left another rider critically injured after two motorcycles collided head-on near Thakpali and Chindaguda villages under Khariar police limits in Nuapada district.

Faluguni Behera, a resident of Runibasa village under Boden police station, rode his bike (OD 26 F 5838) towards Khariar on Tuesday night. Another motorcycle (OD 26 D 2160) approached from the opposite direction. Both vehicles crashed head-on, throwing the riders onto the road.

Locals rushed the injured men to Khariar Sub-Divisional Hospital. Doctors declared Faluguni Behera dead upon arrival. The other rider, whose identity remains unknown, sustained severe injuries. His condition deteriorated, and doctors referred him to another medical facility for advanced treatment.

Police seized both motorcycles from the accident site. Sub-Inspector Ashe Bihari reached the location and initiated further investigation. Authorities confirmed that the collision occurred between Thakpali and Chindaguda villages, a stretch often prone to accidents due to narrow roads and heavy traffic.

The fatal bike accident shocked residents of Runibasa and nearby villages. Family members mourned Faluguni Behera’s untimely death. Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading to the crash.

This head-on bike collision highlights the urgent need for road safety awareness in Nuapada district. Frequent accidents in rural areas emphasise the importance of cautious driving and adherence to traffic rules.
