Tractor Overturns In Mayurbhanj; Four Killed, 20 Injured

Baripada: At least four persons were killed while 20 others sustained injuries after a tractor in which they were travelling, slipped 15 feet below the road and overturned.

The mishap occurred near Murunia village under Jharpokharia police limits in Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday evening.

Sources said that two men, a woman and a minor child have lost their lives in the tragic mishap. However, the identities of deceased persons were not known immediately.

According to sources, a group of artistes was returning to Bagbuda village after performing at a cultural programme at Damanisahi located on Odisha-Jharkhand border. On the way, the tractor driver lost control over the wheels and the vehicle fell 15 feet below the road and turned turtle.

On being informed, fire service personnel, police and ambulance reached the spot and the injured were rushed to Sirsa Community Health Centre. Later, they were shifted to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital at Baripada.
