Malkangiri police Saturday arrested three hardcore female Maoists from the Gunthabeda forest within Chitrakonda police station limits.
After receiving information about Maoist activities in the Gunthabeda forest, police and DVF jawans conducted a search and detained three women wandering suspiciously in the jungle.
During interrogation at the police headquarters, it came to the fore that the three women were hardcore Maoists carrying a combined cash reward of Rs 8 lakh on their heads
The operation resulted in the capture of three women Maoists: Swapna, also known as Chandrama Khilo, Babita, known as Kamala Khilo, and Sunita Khilo. All three are residents of Dhakadapadar village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Jodambo police.
Police officials reported that Swapna, who has a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh, joined the Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) in 2018 and was active in the organization’s military platoon. Babita and Sunita, both of whom have a reward of Rs 2 lakh, joined the Maoist group in 2021.
