A tragic road accident on State Highway 36 near Durgee Jagannath Temple in Rayagada claimed three lives and left one person critically injured.
Two motorcycles collided head‑on near the Durgee Jagannath Temple under Bishamcuttack police limits. The impact killed two riders instantly. Locals rushed two injured victims to the Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital. Doctors declared one more dead upon arrival, while another remains in critical condition.
The deceased include Akash Mandangi of Badapolisi village under Ramanaguda block, Birsing Hikaka of Burujuguda village under Chandili police station, and Ravi Pirivaka of Tarapali village. Bharat Hikaka is undergoing treatment at Rayagada hospital in critical condition.
Bishamcuttack police reached the accident site, seized the bodies, and began investigating the cause of the collision. Authorities are examining whether speeding or negligence led to the crash.
