In a heartbreaking incident, two minor brothers drowned in a pond near Raisuan market under the Keonjhar Sadar police station area on Tuesday.
The victims, identified as Kushal Ansari (12) and Aman Ansari (9), sons of Nuruddin Ansari, were bathing in the Tera pond when the tragedy occurred.
According to reports, around 11 AM, the brothers ventured to the nearby pond for a bath. Tragically, they drowned in the water. When thier mother, Chandini Begum, arrived at the pond searching for her children, she could not find them. Local youths who were bathing in the area spotted one of the boys floating in the water and quickly pulled him out. Soon after, they noticed the second boy floating nearby and rescued him as well.
Upon receiving the information, Keonjhar Sadar police rushed to the scene and transported the boys to the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital. However, doctors declared both children dead on arrival. The police have seized the bodies and sent them for postmortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the Raisuan community, with locals expressing shock and grief over the loss of the young lives.
