Jaswinder Bhalla, a popular Punjabi comedian and actor, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the age of 65. Known for his satirical wit and humor, he died at Fortis Hospital in Mohali.
His passing has prompted an outpouring of condolences from fans and political figures. The last rites are scheduled for Saturday at Balongi and are expected to be attended by many of his colleagues from the Punjabi film industry.
Political leaders across India have mourned his death. Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring called him “a proud Punjabi voice.” BJP leader Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal described Bhalla as “the voice of truth and simplicity,” who brought smiles to millions of faces.
Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal and Delhi minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa also shared their grief. Maliwal noted that Bhalla used humor to deliver powerful social messages, while Sirsa stated that with his demise, “The stage of Punjabi laughter stands silent & empty today.”
