Mohan Charan Majhi, Chief Minister of Odisha, has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving a new Amrit Bharat Express train service between Podanur (Coimbatore) in Tamil Nadu and Dhanbad in Jharkhand.
The chief minister said the new train service will significantly improve connectivity and create new opportunities for people in southern and western parts of the state.
Boost for Connectivity in Odisha
The newly approved train will pass through several important stations in Odisha, benefiting seven districts across the southern and western regions, including the KBK region.

According to the chief minister, the service will make travel easier for residents and improve regional connectivity.
Direct Links to Major Industrial and Textile Hubs
The new train will also connect Odisha with major cities in Tamil Nadu, including Coimbatore, Tiruppur, and Salem, which are known for their textile and industrial sectors.
Additionally, the service will provide direct connectivity to key industrial centres in Jharkhand, such as Ranchi, Bokaro, and Dhanbad.
The improved rail connectivity is expected to strengthen trade, economic ties, and social linkages between the states.

Sharing the update on X, Majhi thanked the central leadership for supporting infrastructure development in Odisha.
He said the new railway service reflects the government’s commitment to expanding transportation networks and accelerating development in the state.
