Tensions flared up at the Khallikote Unitary University campus shortly after the announcement of the student union elections, leading to a violent clash between two rival student groups.
Acting swiftly on information regarding the altercation, the Town Police reached the spot and detained nine students involved from both sides.
In the wake of the incident, Brahmapur Police launched intensive foot patrolling in and around the university premises to maintain law and order. Security measures have been significantly beefed up across the university campus to prevent any further escalation. Police authorities confirmed that an investigation is currently underway and appropriate legal action will be initiated against those found guilty.
Brahmapur Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhinav Sonkar stated that strict security protocols have been implemented not only at Khallikote University but across all higher educational institutions in the city to ensure peace and stability.
“In light of the upcoming student union elections, we urge all students to maintain peace and exercise restraint. Strict and immediate legal action will be taken against anyone involved in violence, threats, unlawful assembly, or any illegal activities,” SP Sonkar emphasized.
He further assured that Brahmapur Police remain fully committed to maintaining a safe environment so that regular academic activities at the university continue uninterrupted.
