President Droupadi Murmu hosted Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today, marking a milestone in bilateral cooperation.
Welcoming President Parmelin and hosting a banquet in his honor, President Murmu highlighted the warm and cordial ties between both nations, rooted in democracy, trade, and shared values.
Addressing the delegates, President Murmu emphasized that Switzerland remains a key economic partner. She noted that the implementation of the landmark India-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement opens vastly expanded avenues for bilateral trade and investment.
Swiss companies already maintain a robust presence in India’s infrastructure ecosystem, contributing to roads, railway bridges, and tunnel construction. President Murmu urged Swiss enterprises to explore emerging sectors, particularly green technology, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence.
The state visit yielded pivotal agreements spanning migration, mobility, scientific research, and technology transfer. Expressing optimism, both heads of state agreed that closer collaboration will deliver immense mutual benefits and usher in a new chapter of dynamic India-Switzerland partnership.
