New York: Team India will face high-flying USA in the 25th match of the T20 World Cup 2024 on June 12 (Wednesday) at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.
Both teams have played two matches in their respective T20 World Cup 2024 campaigns so far and they have won both of them. For India, it is their bowlers who have shown top-notch form as they defended a meek total of 119 runs against Pakistan in their last match.
USA will come into the USA vs IND match on the back of a famous win over Pakistan where they defeated the Babar Azam-led team in a thrilling Super Over showdown.
Among all the teams that have played on the tricky New York pitches, India has proven to be the most adept at handling the conditions. Despite being bowled out for 119 on Sunday against Pakistan, India made a remarkable comeback to defeat Pakistan by six runs. Another victory could cement their position as the top team in a group that has seen a few surprises.
Although Team India looks to be as strong as ever, they would like to refine a few of the areas. For instance, Virat Kohli has not been able to cross the five-run mark in the two matches he has played so far. India would be delighted to get their top batter back amongst the runs.
United States, on the other hand, have a historic opportunity ahead of their first meeting with India. A win would place Monank Patel’s team at the top of the standings with three consecutive wins, securing their spot in the Super 8 before India. They have already caused an upset when they defeated Pakistan in their previous match and hence, can not be taken lightly.
