The Supreme Court on Monday allowed content creator Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, to approach the Maharashtra cyber police for the return of his passport.
The relief came after the Assam and Maharashtra governments informed the court that their investigations against Allahbadia were complete.
A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh also said it would consider Allahbadia’s plea to club the multiple FIRs filed against him during the next hearing.
Allahbadia was booked over controversial remarks about parents and sex made during comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show. Earlier, on February 18, the Supreme Court granted him interim protection from arrest, while criticizing his comments as “vulgar” and stating he had a “dirty mind” that brought “shame” to society.
At that time, the court had directed him to deposit his passport with the Nodal Cyber Police Station in Thane and temporarily restricted him from airing new episodes of The Ranveer Show that could influence the pending cases.
Later, on March 3, the court relaxed the conditions further, allowing him to resume his podcast while ensuring the content upheld “morality and decency” for all age groups.
Alongside Allahbadia and Samay Raina, comics Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija are also named in the case filed in Assam.
