In one of the most breathtaking run chases of the TATA IPL 2026 season, **Sunrisers Hyderabad** hunted down a mammoth 229 with nine balls to spare, defeating **Rajasthan Royals** by five wickets in a high-octane clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Rajasthan Royals posted a formidable 228 for 6 after being asked to bat first. The innings was defined by a jaw-dropping century from 17-year-old sensation **Vaibhav Sooryavanshi**, who smashed 103 off just 37 balls. His innings featured an astonishing **12 sixes and 5 fours**, at a strike rate of nearly 280. Dhruv Jurel provided stability with a well-made 51, while Donovan Ferreira chipped in with a quick 33 off 16 as RR maintained a scoring rate above 11 runs per over.

Yet, that total never looked safe once Hyderabad’s explosive top order got going.

Travis Head fell early, but **Abhishek Sharma** (57 off 29) and **Ishan Kishan** (74 off 31) took the game by the scruff of the neck. The duo added 139 runs inside the first ten overs, both striking at over 200. Their fearless approach kept the required rate under control throughout.

**Heinrich Klaasen** and **Nitish Kumar Reddy** then ensured there were no late jitters with a crucial 53-run partnership, before Salil Arora applied the finishing touches. SRH cruised to victory at a staggering **12.37 runs per over**, underlining their reputation as one of the most dangerous batting units in the league.

**Riyan Parag (RR Captain) Post-Match:**
“Skill-wise I thought we executed fairly well but dropping catches made a big difference. You cannot afford to drop quality players like Abhishek because they make you pay. We probably left 10-15 runs out there with the bat. Credit to them for executing the yorkers well in the death overs. We’ll reset and come back stronger.”

The win keeps Sunrisers Hyderabad firmly in the hunt for a top-four spot, while Rajasthan Royals will need to tighten their fielding and find a way to defend big totals on batting-friendly pitches.

**Match Summary**
– **RR 228/6** (Vaibhav Sooryavanshi 103, Dhruv Jurel 51)
– **SRH 229/5** in 18.3 overs (Ishan Kishan 74, Abhishek Sharma 57)
– **Result:** Sunrisers Hyderabad win by 5 wickets
