Speeding Truck Rams Into Car; Woman Dead, 4 Hurt In Bhubaneswar Outskirts

Barang: A woman died and four others were critically injured after a speeding truck jumped the road divider and rammed into a car in which a family were travelling to Jajpur from Khurda via Pitapalli Barang on Wednesday.

The identities of the deceased and the injured persons are yet to be revealed by the police. However, sources said four members of a family—a couple and their two children— and a driver were in the car and were en route to Jajpur on the Barang-Chandaka road.

In the meanwhile, four persons, who were test driving a six-wheeler truck after repair at Ashok Leyland Showroom at Daruthenga village, were moving at a high speed from Barang Chhak.

As all of them were drunk, the driver lost control of the wheel as a result of which the truck jumped the road divider and dashed into the car moving on the other side of the road.

The collision was so intense that a woman died on the spot and locals rescued others trapped inside the car. The locals also apprehended the people driving the truck and gave them a sound thrashing before handing them over to the police.

Till the last report came in, the police were yet to provide any information about the victims and the detained persons. Reportedly, the injured victims are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
