The International Cricket Council (ICC) has inducted former India captain Sourav Ganguly, former India women’s captain Anjum Chopra, and former England batter Kevin Pietersen into the prestigious ICC Hall of Fame, recognising their remarkable contributions to international cricket.
The honour celebrates three distinguished careers that left a lasting impact on the game across different eras and formats.
Sourav Ganguly Honoured for Transforming Indian Cricket
One of India’s most influential captains, Sourav Ganguly enjoyed a 16-year international career, scoring more than 18,000 international runs across formats while redefining Indian cricket with his fearless leadership.
Expressing his gratitude after the announcement, Ganguly said he was deeply honoured to join cricket’s greatest players in the ICC Hall of Fame.
“I am honoured to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. To have my name included among cricket’s greatest players is one of the most cherished moments of my life. Representing India has been a privilege, and this recognition makes the journey even more special,” Ganguly said.
He also thanked everyone who supported him throughout his career and said the honour would inspire him to continue serving the sport.
Anjum Chopra Receives Prestigious Recognition
Former India women’s captain Anjum Chopra also earned a place in the ICC Hall of Fame for her pioneering contributions to women’s cricket.
Chopra became the first Indian woman to play 100 One-Day Internationals and score 1,000 ODI runs, paving the way for future generations of women cricketers.
Reflecting on the honour, Chopra credited her family, coaches, administrators and teammates for helping shape her journey.
“This recognition is an honour for everyone who believed in me and supported my dream of representing India. I am delighted to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame,” she said.
Kevin Pietersen Joins Cricket’s Elite
Former England batting star Kevin Pietersen was also inducted after an outstanding international career spanning all three formats.
Pietersen represented England in 104 Tests, 136 ODIs and 37 T20Is, scoring more than 14,000 international runs with his aggressive batting style.
Describing the recognition as the highest honour in cricket, Pietersen said he felt privileged to see his name alongside some of the game’s greatest players.
“It is a tremendous honour to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. This recognition is something I will cherish forever,” Pietersen said.
Celebrating Cricketing Excellence
The latest additions to the ICC Hall of Fame recognise three players who made significant contributions to world cricket through leadership, consistency and match-winning performances.
While Ganguly transformed India’s approach to international cricket, Chopra played a crucial role in the growth of women’s cricket in India, and Pietersen established himself as one of England’s most impactful modern batters.
Their induction adds another milestone to careers that have inspired generations of cricketers around the world.
