Section 30 of Police Act Clamped in Puri

Puri: With weeks left for the general election, the Police have imposed Section 30 of the Police Act in the Puri district for the next 90 days.

The restrictions will be in force in all the police station limits in the district up to May 5, 2024.

The decision was taken to prevent any untoward incidents and to maintain peace. Rallies, meetings and dharnas have been prohibited.

As per Section 30, there should be no processions, rallies or public meetings held without permission from the police authorities concerned, informed SP Pinak Mishra. Stern action would be taken against the violators, he added.

In restrictions will remain in force in all 11 blocks, 3 NACs and Puri municipality area in the district.
