India on Thursday strongly condemned continued attacks by Houthi rebels on civilian and energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, including a strike on Dammam’s King Fahd International Airport that killed an Indian national and injured two others.

Another Indian was wounded by debris from an intercepted drone over Saudi Aramco’s Shaybah oilfield.

Expressing solidarity with Riyadh, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) labelled such targeting of critical infrastructure “completely unacceptable” and demanded an immediate cessation of hostilities.

The Indian embassy in Riyadh is coordinating with Saudi authorities to support affected citizens and the deceased’s family. Since February, 19 Indians, including 11 seafarers, have lost their lives in the broader West Asia conflict.

Simultaneously, New Delhi is addressing the disruption faced by thousands of Indian pilgrims stranded in Saudi Arabia following flight suspensions by Indian carriers like Air India, IndiGo, and Akasa Air.

MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that Indian missions in Riyadh and Jeddah are working with airlines and tour operators to facilitate their early return.

Over 3,000 stranded Umrah pilgrims have already returned over the past week alongside 10,000 regular travellers. With over 10 million Indians residing across West Asia, India renewed its call for urgent diplomacy and regional stability.
