Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) celebrated their 100th IPL match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium today, April 18, by donning their special green jerseys under the “Go Green” initiative.
The team faced the Delhi Capitals in this landmark fixture, aiming for their fifth win of the season.
Since 2011, RCB has dedicated one home match each season to environmental awareness. The green kit symbolises the franchise’s commitment to sustainability, supported by eco-friendly actions such as sapling plantations, solar power systems, and waste management practices at the stadium.
The centennial celebration carried added significance as RCB became the first franchise to play 100 IPL matches at a single venue. The Chinnaswamy Stadium has long been the heart of RCB’s fan culture, and the milestone underscored the team’s bond with Bengaluru.
Virat Kohli, expected to overcome a minor ankle niggle, led the batting charge in this crucial match. RCB entered the game ranked third on the points table, riding strong momentum. Rajat Patidar’s men looked to extend their winning streak, while Josh Hazlewood spearheaded the bowling attack.
Delhi Capitals, struggling for consistency, faced the challenge of competing against a motivated RCB side backed by a sea of green-clad supporters.
