Director Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious adaptation of the Ramayana is set to make its global debut at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2026, where the film’s official trailer will premiere ahead of its worldwide release on July 24.
Starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Yash as Ravana, the mythological epic is among the most anticipated Indian films of the year.
Trailer to debut on global stage
The makers confirmed that the theatrical trailer will be unveiled on July 24, promising audiences a closer look at the film’s scale, storytelling and visual effects ahead of its Diwali 2026 theatrical release.
Announcing the launch, the team shared the message:
“From Bharat to the World. One of Bharat’s greatest civilisational epics, presented to the world at a scale never attempted before in Indian cinema.”
The trailer announcement follows the film’s first glimpse, which received mixed reactions, with some viewers criticising its visual effects.
SDCC panel to feature Ranbir Kapoor and Yash
Ramayana will be showcased at San Diego Comic-Con on July 23 at Ballroom 20, one of the convention’s largest venues.
The panel will feature producer Namit Malhotra, director Nitesh Tiwari, and lead actors Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, marking the film’s first major international presentation.
The official Comic-Con description introduces the story as an epic battle between Lord Rama, bound by duty and righteousness, and Ravana, a powerful ruler driven by pride and vengeance.
Nationwide school campaign launched
Ahead of the film’s release, the makers have also launched a nationwide outreach programme across more than 400 schools in 18 cities under the theme “Hamara Satya. Hamara Itihaas.”
The initiative aims to engage over five lakh students through quizzes, drawing competitions, storytelling sessions and interactive activities centred on the values and legacy of the Ramayana.
According to the makers, the campaign seeks to help children experience the epic not merely as mythology but as a timeless story of courage, sacrifice, duty and righteousness.
Two-part release planned
Produced by Prime Focus Studios and Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana features an ensemble cast including Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh and others.
The first instalment will release during Diwali 2026, while the second part is scheduled for Diwali 2027.
