In a bid to spread awareness on road safety among school students, a slogan and drawing competition will be organised in all districts of Odisha tomorrow (13 October 2026) as part of the “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan”. The event is being held on the directions of Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena.
Organised by the Commerce and Transport Department, the competition will see participation of students from Class 8 to Class 10. Participants will express their creative ideas through drawings and slogans on the theme “Come Home Safe / ସୁରକ୍ଷିତ ଭାବେ ଘରକୁ ଫେରନ୍ତୁ”.
Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) of each district will act as nodal officers to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme. The competitions will be held in schools with the cooperation of District Education Officers (DEOs). After the competitions, a road safety awareness meeting will be organised in which students will be sensitised about the importance of following traffic rules.
A panel of judges will evaluate the entries. Attractive trophies will be awarded to the winners of the first, second and third positions in both the drawing and slogan categories. All participants will receive certificates of participation.
The main objective of the initiative is to create widespread awareness among students from a young age about the need to follow road safety rules. This will help them grow into responsible citizens who obey traffic regulations, thereby contributing to the reduction of road accident deaths and the building of a safer, accident-free Odisha.
