The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has dispelled rumors of a cyclone threat to Odisha, providing major relief to residents preparing for the upcoming Dussehra festivities.
Although an active cyclonic circulation over the South Andaman Sea is expected to form a low-pressure area, experts confirm that environmental conditions are unsupportive of significant intensification.
Low-Pressure System Unlikely to Intensify
According to meteorologists, the atmospheric and oceanic parameters surrounding the current circulation remain unfavorable for rapid strengthening.
As a result, the weather system is expected to remain restricted to a simple low-pressure or well-marked low-pressure area as it moves across the Bay of Bengal.
Speaking on the development, Regional Meteorological Centre scientist Dr. Rajashree V.P.M. confirmed that the probability of the system turning into a cyclonic storm is negligible, reassuring the public that Odisha faces no threat of severe storm activity during the festive period.
