In the shocking case where a woman was allegedly murdered and her body concealed under cement plaster in the Kumbharpada area of Puri, police have identified the victim after seven days.
The deceased has been confirmed as Annapurna Dalei (elderly resident of Kharada village, Kashinagar police limits, Gajapati district). Puri police circulated CCTV images across districts, and Kashinagar police traced the identity after relatives recognised her photograph.
Investigations revealed Annapurna had two sons. Her younger son Madan Dalei, who had been keeping her with him in Puri for the past six months, is now absconding. Madan reportedly had strained relations with his elder brother and lived separately with his wife and children, while keeping his mother with him.
Police said Annapurna and Madan initially stayed at Sarvodaya Nagar, later shifting to a rented house near Patitapaban Lane, Jagannath Colony. Authorities believe Madan’s arrest will unravel the full mystery behind the gruesome murder.
Puri Additional SP confirmed that once Madan is apprehended, the entire conspiracy and motive will be exposed.
