The Government of India has firmly dismissed rumours of a nationwide lockdown, with Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri clarifying that no such proposal is under consideration.

Addressing widespread speculation, Puri stated that claims circulating on social media about a possible lockdown are “completely false,” reassuring citizens that the government remains focused on maintaining stability.

Govt Monitoring Global Situation Closely

The clarification comes amid heightened global tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran and the United States, which has raised concerns about energy supplies and global trade routes.

Puri emphasized that the government is actively monitoring developments related to energy, supply chains, and essential commodities in real time. He added that proactive measures are being taken to ensure uninterrupted availability of critical resources across the country.

Fuel Supply and Economic Stability Assured

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has implemented steps to cushion the impact of global disruptions, including recent decisions on fuel pricing and excise duties.

Officials reiterated that India is well-prepared to manage emerging challenges and maintain steady access to fuel, energy, and other essential supplies for all residents.

Focus on Preparedness, Not Restrictions

The government highlighted India’s track record of resilience during global crises and stressed that current efforts are aimed at ensuring preparedness rather than imposing restrictions.

Puri noted that authorities will continue to act in a “timely, proactive, and coordinated manner” to safeguard economic stability and public well-being.
