The Shree Jagannath Temple will remain closed to devotees for four and a half hours tomorrow, September 2 (Wednesday), as the sacred Rahu Rekha Lagi ritual will be performed.
According to the temple administration, darshan will be suspended from 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM. The ritual, observed on Bhadra Krushna Panchami (Rekhapanchami), is one of the temple’s most significant secret rituals (Gupta Niti), conducted by the Daitapati Sevayats with utmost devotion.
The Rahu Rekha Lagi, a golden strip prepared for the Lords, will be ceremonially affixed to the faces of the Chaturdha Murti (Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Lord Sudarshan) after the completion of the first Bhogmandap.
Following the ritual, the deities will undergo Maha Snana (holy bath), after which public darshan will resume. The temple administration has urged devotees to plan their visit accordingly.
