The sacred Banakalagi ritual of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra will be performed tonight at the Gundicha Temple’s Adapa Mandap.
The temple administration announced that public darshan at Adapa Mandap will remain suspended from 9 PM to 3 AM. This restriction follows the completion of the second Bhogmandap rituals.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) issued a special advisory urging devotees not to visit during these hours. Officials emphasised that cooperation from devotees is essential to ensure the smooth conduct of the Banakalagi ritual.
Banakalagi, a significant tradition in Jagannath culture, involves the ceremonial application of fresh colours to the deities. The ritual symbolises renewal and divine grace, drawing thousands of devotees each year.
The administration clarified that darshan will resume after the completion of the ritual. Devotees are encouraged to respect the sanctity of the occasion and follow the guidelines issued by SJTA.
