Both Houses of Parliament faced repeated adjournments today as members of the DMK and other opposition parties staged protests over various issues, including the Centre’s proposed delimitation.
The Lok Sabha was adjourned multiple times throughout the day, while the Rajya Sabha also experienced interruptions due to similar protests. DMK MPs criticized the ruling party’s conduct, alleging bias and unfair handling of opposition demonstrations.
Speaker Om Birla emphasized the importance of maintaining parliamentary norms, urging members to follow the rules of decorum.
Separately, Congress MPs from Punjab organized a protest on the Parliament premises, condemning police action against farmers at the Punjab-Haryana borders. Tensions escalated as farmer leaders were detained, drawing criticism from opposition leaders.
This disruption occurs during the second phase of the Budget session, which began on March 10 and will continue until April 4, 2025.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh criticized opposition MPs for allegedly disrupting proceedings and imposing their terms for running the House.
