Bhubaneswar: Odisha is celebrating the state’s 89th Utkala Divas (foundation day) on Friday to commemorate the struggle to achieve a separate statehood status and celebrate its rich culture and heritage. On this occasion, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik have wished the people of the state and the Odia diaspora.
Taking to her X handle, President Droupadi Murmu wrote, “…Odisha is known for its vast natural wealth and rich cultural heritage. The resilient people of this state have made great contributions to the development of Odisha and the country. Odisha has produced many icons over the centuries, including several makers of modern India. May Lord Jagannath bless the state and its people with greater success and prosperity.”
Prime Minister wrote, “Wishing everyone a very Happy Utkala Dibasa! This day reminds us of the rich culture and heritage of Odisha and its dynamic people. The state has made a rich contribution to national progress. I pray for the success and prosperity of the people of Odisha.”

In keeping with this era of transformation, the idea of creating a ‘developed Odisha’ is the idea of Odia. On this ‘Odisha Day’ let us strengthen our Asmita and Swaviman and move forward towards building ‘Developed Odisha’,” wrote Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on his X handle.
On the occasion of the Utkala Divas, Governor Raghubar Das also extended his heartfelt greetings and heartiest congratulations to the people of Odisha. He called upon everyone to be determined to make Odisha a prosperous and developed state.
