President Droupadi Murmu will begin a two-day visit to Odisha on Friday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to join her on Saturday for a series of official engagements, including celebrations marking two years of the BJP government in the state.
The visit holds special significance as Saturday also marks President Murmu’s birthday.
According to the official itinerary, President Murmu will arrive at Dandbose Airstrip in Mayurbhanj district at 3:45 pm on Friday. During her visit, she will inaugurate the newly established AIIMS Satellite Centre in Rairangpur, a project expected to strengthen healthcare services in northern Odisha.
President and PM Modi to Visit Pahadpur Village
On Saturday, President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi will travel to Pahadpur, the President’s native village in Mayurbhanj district.
The two leaders will pay floral tributes to the statue of Shyam Charan Murmu, the President’s late husband. They will also visit the Skill Development Institute established in the village and interact with young people who have received training and secured employment through the centre.
The visit is expected to highlight the importance of skill development, rural empowerment, and employment generation in the region.
BJP Government’s Two-Year Anniversary Event
Later in the day, President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi will participate in a special public programme at Dandabose to commemorate the second anniversary of the BJP government in Odisha.
The event is scheduled to begin at 1 pm and will be attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, senior ministers, public representatives, and party leaders.
A documentary film titled “Bikashara Dhara, Odisha Sara” will be screened during the programme, showcasing key achievements and development initiatives undertaken by the state government over the past two years.
Major Development Projects to Be Launched
During the event, President Murmu is expected to inaugurate several development projects and lay foundation stones for key infrastructure initiatives.
These include important railway projects and a new venture of Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited (BCGCL), aimed at boosting industrial growth and employment opportunities in the state.
Both President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi are scheduled to address the gathering and outline their vision for Odisha’s development and economic progress.
Focus on Development and Growth
The high-profile visit underscores the Centre’s focus on Odisha and comes at a time when the state government is highlighting its achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, industry, education, and welfare programmes.
Following the completion of official engagements, President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi are expected to return to New Delhi on Saturday evening.
