Rapper and singer Hirdesh Singh, popular as Yo Yo Honey Singh, has requested additional time from the Maharashtra Cyber Cell after missing his scheduled questioning session on Monday.
The artist was issued a formal summons by the law enforcement agency to appear before the investigating officer in connection with a complaint alleging that he made objectionable remarks during a live concert performance.
While the singer did not turn up as originally directed, official sources confirm that the matter remains under active investigation. Honey Singh had previously addressed the backlash on social media, issuing a video apology and clarifying that his comments were intended as a disclaimer promoting safe sex practices.
This latest legal snag follows a series of past judicial actions involving the performer’s lyrics and public stage appearances:
- Delhi High Court Action: In April 2026, the Delhi High Court directed the Central Government to remove URLs of the rapper’s 2006 track “Volume 1” from all digital and social media platforms, declaring the content obscene and derogatory towards women.
- Indoor Stadium Complaint: In May, the High Court directed the artist to file an affidavit following a petition by the Hindu Shakti Dal alleging he performed parts of the controversial track during a concert at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in March 2025—a claim the artist denied.
The Maharashtra Cyber Cell is expected to issue revised dates for his appearance once his request for time is reviewed by officials.
