Director Hanu Raghavapudi’s upcoming period action film Fauzi, starring Prabhas, has run into controversy following the release of its introductory video, titled File No. 25, on Oct 23.
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s grandnephew, socio-political activist Chandra Kumar Bose, has called on the filmmakers to pull down the teaser, accusing them of “distorting history.”
The controversy stems from a scene set in 1942 Berlin, where Netaji is depicted conversing with Adolf Hitler. In the sequence, Netaji defends Indian resolve by extolling the feats of a fictional Indian superspy—played by Prabhas—who helped Japan defeat British forces in Singapore using a Bhagavad Gita-based code.
Sharing a post by socio-political leader Suparno Satpathy, who noted that “mixing fiction with history isn’t a good idea,” Chandra Kumar Bose emphasised his objection on X.
“Mixing fiction with history is a crime,” Bose posted, urging director Hanu Raghavapudi, production house Mythri Movie Makers, and lead actor Prabhas to withdraw the video and ensure historical accuracy.
Mixing fiction with history is a crime. I hope @hanurpudi and his team @fauzithemovie / @MythriOfficial pull down this teaser , put out a new one and make sure that history is not distorted. Hope #Prabhas too gets to read this.

In response to fans defending the creative liberty of a fictional narrative, Satpathy reiterated that movies influence generations and portraying Netaji endorsing a fictional character misrepresents history.
Co-starring Imanvi and slated for a March 19, 2027 release, Fauzi now faces intense scrutiny from historical guardians even as buzz around Prabhas’ action avatar continues to build.
