Written and directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan, Baththa is set in late 1980s Madras and revolves around Baththavachalam (Vijay Sethupathi), a feared local figure.
The narrative takes a comical yet poignant turn when a young boy, Sabhari, accidentally locks Baththa inside a school bathroom while attempting to retrieve a confiscated toy.
Terrified of repercussions, Sabhari secretly feeds the trapped gangster through a door gap before eventually freeing him, sparking an unexpected bond and a journey of personal redemption.
The film stars Vijay Sethupathi and Master Sai Prithviraj in lead roles, supported by Lijomol Jose, Baby Sahasra Shree, Santhy Balachandran, Hari Krishnan, Vishnu Govindan, Arjun Chidambaram, and Ajay Ghosh. Co-produced by filmmaker Atlee alongside Cine1 Studios and Star Studio18, Baththa features a musical score composed by Sai Abhyankkar.
With its warm blend of humour, nostalgia, and emotional storytelling, the film promises a strong global reception on OTT.
