Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote a four-page letter to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on the occasion of Utkal Divas, extending greetings and reflecting on Odia identity, heritage, and development.
In his message, the Prime Minister highlighted Odisha’s rich cultural legacy, mentioning the Jagannath Temple, Konark Sun Temple, and Lingaraj Temple as symbols of Odia pride. He recalled the contributions of great personalities like Gopabandhu Das, Fakir Mohan Senapati, and Biju Patnaik, describing Biju Babu’s multifaceted personality as a source of inspiration for generations.
Modi noted his long association with the Odia people, sharing experiences from his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister when he interacted with Odia communities. He emphasised Odisha’s role in strengthening national identity through its traditions and resilience.
The Prime Minister praised the success of the Subhadra Yojana in empowering women and acknowledged Odisha’s achievements in Maoist suppression. He also mentioned the increased railway allocation of Rs 10,600 crore for Odisha, the proposed Rare Earth Corridor, and Odisha’s emerging role in India’s semiconductor journey.
Modi underlined that Odisha’s cultural heritage and modern progress together strengthen Odia identity. He expressed confidence that under Chief Minister Mohan Majhi’s leadership, Odisha will continue to advance as a hub of development and national pride.
