Filmmaker Karan Johar has announced that his iconic talk show, Koffee With Karan, will wrap up its historic run with its upcoming ninth season.
Premiering in 2004, the show has remained a pop culture staple for over two decades.
In an emotional promotional video shared on Instagram, Karan reflected on the show’s origins, recalling how he first pitched the concept to his late father, Yash Johar, before the series launched in August 2004.

Looking back at the last 22 years, Karan humorously noted the show’s legacy—from keeping the word “nepotism” alive to hosting celebrity couples who later married or parted ways, and even joking that the show “nearly ended the careers” of some national icons.
The filmmaker also shared his thoughts on bidding farewell to the platform, stating that some journeys naturally reach a point where it is time to let them go. He expressed deep gratitude to the audience for providing friendships, memories, and its fair share of controversy.
Koffee With Karan Season 9 is scheduled to stream on JioHotstar starting Oct 14, inviting fans for “one last cup” of coffee and gossip.
