The Odisha Legislative Assembly was adjourned until 4 PM today following intense protests by opposition members over the alleged curtailment of Panchayati Raj powers.
The session, which began with the Question Hour, quickly descended into chaos as BJD legislators stormed the well of the House, raising slogans and waving placards.
Congress MLAs joined the dissent with a silent protest, holding posters and demanding clarity on the government’s stance. The uproar intensified when BJP MLA Sanatan Bijuli attempted to raise a question, but his intervention was drowned out by the commotion.
Speaker Surama Padhy repeatedly appealed for order but was ultimately forced to adjourn the House until the afternoon. This marks the fourth consecutive day of disrupted proceedings, with no legislative business conducted.
