Angul: A Physics demonstrator of Bapuji College at Chhendipada in Angul district was caught red-handed by Odisha vigilance while he was taking bribe from a student.
The accused has been identified as Manas Ranjan Sahoo. He was chargesheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Cuttack Vigilance for demanding and accepting bribe from a student in order to issue No Due Certificate (NDC) in his favour for appearing in +2 Science examination.
Sahoo was also convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Angul and sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and fine of Rs.5,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months more for the offence.
Vigilance will now move the competent authority for dismissal of the accused demonstrator from service following his conviction.
