New Delhi: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) recently announced that PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, has been designated as the female flag bearer for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Games.
Joining her will be the celebrated veteran Table Tennis player Achanta Sharath Kamal. Originally, the IOA had selected Sharath Kamal as the flag bearer in March, but postponed the decision to choose a female athlete to accompany him.
Additionally, Gagan Narang, a four-time Olympian, is set to replace Mary Kom as the Chef de Mission for the Paris Olympics, following Kom’s resignation from the position in April.
This aligns with the IOA’s revision in 2020, which now allows for one male and one female athlete to lead the country’s delegation during the opening ceremony of the Summer Games.
