Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif shot dead in Kenya: Reports

A Pakistani journalist, Arshad Sharif, who had left the country fearing his assassination, was shot dead in Kenya reportedly in a police shootout, his wife confirmed on Monday.

“I lost friend, husband and my favourite journalist @arsched today, as per police he was shot in Kenya,” Arhad’s wife Javeria Siddique tweeted.

According to reports, Sharif left for Kenya after realising that he was being traced even in Dubai. Sharif’s assassination was allegedly plotted by Afghan assassins. Sharif was purportedly shot in his head on the outskirts of Nairobi. However, Pakistan’s High Commission in Kenya is still gathering information from the concerned authorities.

Confirming the journalist’s demise, the Foreign Office said Pakistan’s high commissioner to Kenya, along with other officials, reached Chiromo Funeral House in Nairobi where she identified Sharif’s body., the Dawn reported.
