Koraput: Police seized over two quintals of ganja from a pickup van in Koraput district yesterday. The estimated value of the contrabands is Rs 23 lakh, police informed.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted patrolling near Raisingh village and also put up barricades to nab the smugglers engaged in cannabis smuggling.
Later, Police intercepted a speeding vehicle and recovered 2.3 quintals of contraband stuffed in 11 sacks. However, taking advantage of the dense fog, the driver managed to escape, leaving the vehicle on the spot.
A case has been registered and an investigation is underway in this regard, police said.
