After months of waiting, Odisha’s police job aspirants have received their first clear signal from the newly created recruitment body.
The Odisha Uniformed Services Staff Selection Commission (OUSSSC) on Saturday said it has begun the process to recruit Constable-level posts under Odisha Police and other departments, and that a detailed advertisement will be issued shortly.
The official press note, issued by order of the Chairman, OUSSSC, said the forthcoming advertisement will spell out vacancies, eligibility, the selection process and other conditions. The Commission did not announce numbers, dates or the application window on Saturday. Those details, it said, will come only through authorised channels.
At the same time, OUSSSC said it is taking “necessary steps on priority” to speed up the Combined Police Services Examination (CPSE)-2024. Applications for that examination have already been received. CPSE-2024 was meant to fill Sub-Inspector and equivalent posts and was cancelled last year after an alleged question-paper leak. The case later went to the CBI, and the State subsequently handed police recruitment to the new commission.
The Commission openly acknowledged the “considerable interest and apprehension” among candidates. It reiterated that the examination process would be conducted “smoothly, fairly, transparently and in a secure manner,” in line with prescribed rules.
Candidates who have already applied for CPSE-2024 were told to remain prepared and to follow only official communication. All key information — including the examination schedule — will be released through authorised channels and on the Commission’s website, which “will be live shortly.”
OUSSSC said it is making concerted efforts to move both the new Constable recruitment and the pending CPSE-2024 examination forward at the earliest, while protecting candidates’ interests and the sanctity of the exam.
What candidates should do now
- Do not rely on unofficial vacancy lists, rumoured exam dates or social-media “leaks.”
- Keep documents, photographs and educational certificates ready.
- Continue preparation for written, physical and other stages as per existing police recruitment rules.
- Watch for the official website going live and for the detailed Constable advertisement.
